In recent days, major newspapers and websites have featured the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games song “Reunion” in their headlines. The most significant reason, of course, is that its English version was translated by Mr. and Mrs. Chen-Ning Yang (Yang Zhenning and Weng Fan). Xu Rongkai, the creator of the Guangzhou Asian Games lyrics, is a good friend of the Yangs. He handed the completed Chinese lyrics to the couple, hoping they could help find a professional to translate them into English. Unexpectedly, the Yangs were so fond of the lyrics that they quickly translated them themselves and sent the English version back to Xu Rongkai. The couple mentioned they get very excited whenever they talk about this song.
It is said that the melody draws inspiration from the Guangdong nursery rhyme “Falling Rain” (Luo Yu Da), making it a song worth collecting! The Chinese version of the song will be performed by singers Mao Amin and Sun Nan. As for whether the English version will also be sung by them, the producer Lao Zai stated that the current plan is to record a full Chinese version and a version where Part B is in English. If shortlisted, the song may appear in multiple versions, including full Chinese, full English, and mixed Chinese-English.
