Looking from Sagittarius to Scorpius, it is truly a beautiful place. This gorgeous image is a giant mosaic composed of 1,200 individual images, with 200 hours of exposure, covering 52 regions of 34^\circ \times 20^\circ. This is part of the European Southern Observatory’s Gigagalaxy Zoom project, sampled over 29 nights using a small telescope at the Paranal Observatory in Chile. The breathtaking images of the universe cover intricate dust lanes, bright nebulae, and star clusters scattered across our galactic center’s star field. From left to right in the image, you can find the Lagoon Nebula, the Trifid Nebula, the Cat’s Paw Nebula, the Pipe Nebula, and the colorful Rho Ophiuchi and Antares.
