Yesterday, I spent the whole day at the Guangzhou Chess Institute watching the 4th Guangdong Provincial University Chess League. Haha, I am also a fan of Chinese Chess (Xiangqi) and a member of the Chess and Card Club. Of course, I am not a master; I don’t even reach the amateur level. Looking back at the preliminary rounds, my mistakes followed one after another, and my results were disastrous. I went to watch this time because an “uncle” from SCNU (South China Normal University) was competing (Can an uncle participate? Yes, he is an adult education night student; truly a case of living and learning until old age ~~). The atmosphere at the scene was very enthusiastic, with many masters gathered...
I like to concentrate and play a game of chess continuously for one or two hours, and I also like to watch others play. The chessboard appears calm, but the flames of war are rising everywhere, a contest of the Chu-Han contention. If one is not careful, they will be surrounded by enemies on all sides. It is truly a case of “one wrong move, and the whole game is lost.”
The best result for the SCNU main campus in Chinese Chess was 13th place, achieved by that wonderful uncle. During the award ceremony, two legendary figures appeared — the “Lingnan Duo” — Xu Yinchuan and Lyu Qin. As soon as they appeared, many people rushed forward to take photos (unfortunately, I couldn’t get a good shot). “Xu the Immortal” looks much like he does in photos, quite fond of smiling, while Lyu Qin appears a bit more serious. After the team awards were presented, they left.
