When will the bright moon appear? With wine in hand, I ask the blue sky. I know not the moment of our gathering, or what year it will be in that other evening. I desire to ride the wind and return, bringing mooncakes and fine wine, yet I fear the joy might not be complete. Dancing with the moon’s shadow, it feels even better than being in the Heavenly Palace!
Turning around the pavilion, the low moon shines, reflecting on the sleepless. There should be no sorrow, but why is the moon so round when autumn is in the heart? People meet and part like floating duckweed, the moon waxes and wanes; this has been difficult to change since ancient times. May we all be blessed with longevity, and though far apart, we shall share the beauty of the moon together.
