The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced on the 6th that the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry is awarded to Richard F. Heck of the University of Delaware, Ei-ichi Negishi of Purdue University, and Akira Suzuki of Hokkaido University for their outstanding research on palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions in the field of organic synthesis.
The Nobel Committee stated that these three scientists were awarded for their excellent research in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions within the field of organic synthesis. This achievement is widely applied in pharmaceuticals, the electronics industry, and advanced materials, enabling humans to create complex organic molecules.
Richard F. Heck is currently working at the University of Delaware, Ei-ichi Negishi is at Purdue University, and Akira Suzuki is a Professor Emeritus at Hokkaido University.
