Since BoJone shares a common interest in both astronomy and mathematics, I have recently fallen in love with celestial mechanics. This is a field of astronomy where mathematics can truly show its prowess. Every step of calculation holds the potential for a new discovery; this feeling is fantastic, and perhaps it is one of the driving forces behind my progress.
The most important and fundamental method in celestial mechanics is solving differential equations, primarily ordinary differential equations, and more often, systems of ordinary differential equations. This poses a significant challenge for BoJone, as I am currently in my first year of high school and must self-study everything. This requires a foundation in mathematical knowledge such as calculus, series, and analytic geometry. Furthermore, one must achieve a level of mastery where these tools become like modeling clay in one’s hands—easily manipulated and reshaped while maintaining their essence. Fortunately, I have a relaxed and free learning environment. I believe I can do it!
A few days ago, an astronomy enthusiast on Taobao sold their entire collection of old books. Among them were Introduction to Celestial Mechanics and A Course in Celestial Mechanics. These are exactly the celestial mechanics textbooks I have been searching for so diligently! In fact, even the celestial mechanics books used in universities are mostly editions from around the 1980s. These books are rarely updated, so they are almost never available for sale now; usually, you couldn’t buy them even if you had the money (I really got a great bargain ^_^). Link to the shop owner.
